National Astronomy Day and Mars Fest - Tellus Science Museum
The Tellus Science Museum developed two public events using NASA’s Universe of Learning materials: National Astronomy Day and Mars Fest. These events use innovative ways to educate the public about the Solar System, Mars, and exoplanets outside our solar system. Through these events we were able to experiment with activities that would be more kinetic and less craft base.
To increase awareness about the solar system and other solar systems.
Increase access and interest in STEM fields to less represented populations.
General Public with an emphasis on female populations that are less represented in STEM fields and those with limited access to STEM resources.
Recommendations for future implementations
In future iterations of similar programs, it is recommended to strive to work actively in the community to promote these events.
